Vision
Saroj Gupta Cancer Centre and Research institute (SGCCRI) has been recognised by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), The Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO). The current basic research at SGCCRI, largely, deals with genetics, genomics, epidemiology, and cell and molecular biology of cancer. We are developing translational research program in the area of cancer. The University of Calcutta (CU) as well as The West Bengal University of Health Science (WBUHS) have recognised SGCCRI as the “sister institute” for running PhD programme under their registration and guidelines. The emphasis has been given on the participation of both clinical and basic scientists in the research programs. Research projects with specific clinical questions are being addressed using advanced research tools. In addition, collaborative research programs with different research institutions and universities (CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, National Institute of Bio-Medical Genomics, CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, University of Calcutta) have been initiated. The funding of the research activities is being made through both extramural and intramural funds.
